I Grew up with Thistles

 Theme at G4 next month is ROOTS.  I saw a sketch of the thistle roots on the PC. and thought it would be fun. I painted the canvas yellow and red and stuck to my idea using solid color background.  There have always been thistles to irritate the crops, gardens, lawns and going barefoot.  Son, Matt, pointed out the shapes of ND and Minnesota in the root formation.  Can't not see them now.  

22 year old painting

 Ive been looking thru old photos of my work, looking for some ideas.  I couldn't believe how colorful and fun this painting is.  I remember going to Bottle Barn and photographing some of the wine labels. ( Fat Bastard, Mad Housewife, Bare Foot and Gnarly Herd.)  I don't like wine, but loved those labels. Are they still around???   I even see there is some collage technique on this one.  I think my Grand daughter, Sarah has this one. 

Mardi Gras Masks

 For the past 3 years, Andre,(one of the few guy members of the HAGS) has given each of us masks to decorate. Then we have a contest with unique prizes that Andre provides...  This year the big prize was a private tour of the bathrooms at the Hjemkomst Museum.  Second prize was free swimming lessons in the Red River.  Fun times for our diverse group.
