Front Row Seat SOLD @ Pekin Show
Watched a video about "granulation" of paints, adding wet pigment over wet pigment and letting them mingle .. dah.. the sky on this is the result of a lot of mingling.. i had the rest of the painting drawn out so I went for it.. reference was a photo I took a long time ago at a music/art fest.

What is there about a red truck???? Gifted
another small acrylic, using a photo i took in my home town. the original truck was black and yellow, for some reason. i so love drawing and painting older vehicles. Maybe 'cause i learned to drive in really older vehicles of my "time". i used my palette knife to get some of the colors where you wouldn't expect them to be.

"Biking can be fun" Sold @ CAAC show
I know, I know, it is a bit gaudy and busy .. but i had fun doing this small acrylic.. especially when I thought to put booze bottles in the basket.
Fun Fish SOLD
I have been ignoring my watercolor palette lately so i decided to paint this on a scrap of w/c paper torn off a failed painting. I started to do " wet on wet" and the colors turned out so beautiful, i quit. don't think i'll do a background.

Bird condos Gifted to Brita
Just had to paint Carl's birdhouses that I have hung on the back of the house..I sketched them in the morning sun..I didn't put in the bricks, mostly because I enjoy painting old siding better.. each one has a story, of course .

"Waiting for spring in Alaska " Donated to Pekin Auction..
As usual, after a workshop, I try to redo or "save" a work..this is the only one out of 5 that was a possibility. It was a value study on a 1/2 sheet (huge) done with Payne's Grey. I tore it in half and added a lot of color. Reference photo, I took in AK, was of this big boat deserted in the wilderness.. I added what may be ice or water to the foreground..

The ice cream lady Gifted
I painted this s couple of days b/4 the workshop. Tom, the instructor, would clutch his heart if he saw how "tightly" it is painted.. oh well. I used a photo I took of my grandson, owen, and his friend, Nathan, ordering ice cream from this unique European lady in Sisters, oregon. . I loved the light and anticipation on their sweet faces.

Red river watercolor society workshop
Just finished a week long workshop with
Tom Francesconi as our instructor. . It was so much fun. Great bunch of artist friends, of course, my best one, Bobbie, stayed with me.
My paintings turned out quite terrible. Sketches weren't too bad, but my pigment /water ratio was way off... Tom had a great sense of humor and wonderful demos..

"It's a green shutter day" Gifted to Wade's guest room
Whew! I decided to enter the square foot show in Bismarck again, they provide the canvases ( for a fee) and I get to create. . It is fun. I re-used the shutter idea from a bike painting I did last year..that part was easy, I stewed for several days over the flower pots..I actually thought about putting pears on the window sill..eek. . I only used 5 colors plus white on this......

3 seasons of the garden sold @ G4 today 8-25-23
What happened to me today? After an entire weekend of sitting and binge watching Netflix. ...I got busy and painted this in 3 hours...reference for the tightly painted florals were photos of hubbies flowers. The loosely great flower on the upper right was throwing and stamping..THEN I attempted to loosen up the rest... no rest for the detail monster, who lives here....

Remember -ing
Hi followers o mine, I've been really "art-lazy" this year. I spent 2 delightful months in oregon visiting my family. . Did no art.
. I drew this since I'm home, not to paint, but to practice my drawing. I had cut this photo out of the newspaper and saved it 'cause it tells a story. She had lost her hubbie in a farm accident, and she was looking out over the barn yard.. touching..
