Framed the little wranglers

They look kinda snazzy in their white frames.  I want them arranged differently but "oh well"  lucky i can do this much on this blog.  I'm thinking about doing some more ART...  it is taking awhile to get used to not having Carl around to do my framing..  He was a handy bugger......................

BAAAD Angora and baby.. Gifted

I painted this @ the art thingy also. I had a photo of a bunch of angora goats and picked out these two, 'cause the baby was so cute. I attempted to make the back ground really dark, using several colors and my juicey paint. I like it a lot. Gifted

Art @ the Lake #7

Friend, Bobbie, and I attended the Art @ the Lake workshop again this year.  It is a wonderful get-away with friends, good food, wonderful art instruction, beautiful scenery .. what more can you ask for??  I will not try to explain these 2 paintings but they tell a story and were fun.

Garden Commission done

I painted this for a friend of my son, Matt, who is from Portland OR.  It was fun, especially loved the funky pots and vases.  As you who know me, flowers are not my strong suit, but this is colorful and he liked it.  One month ago today, my sweet hubbie, Carl, passed away and i'm not sure about my future "art" life..  I did attend a painting weekend with my friends and it helped...  will post things soon from it..

"Little Wranglers w Large Hats"

I haven't painted for 2 months.. i just painted these 3 acrylics from a sketch i had done a while ago.. Is it a Series? a Triptych? a Trio? the colors match my Pendelton blanket which is kinda weird.

Her Doll, My Doll Gifted to Janice's granddaughter, Lauren..

I started this painting after being @ a meeting in Cormorant Village, and before my hubbie of 53 years, became ill. Life has drastically changed for us. I did finish it and posted it on my blog. I may not be doing much painting now. I am exhibiting in an Art show this week with the help of friends and family.
Yes, this painting needed help. Like my daughter said, " that doll looks like she was on chemo".. SO I put a bonnet on her, lightened the background wallpaper design. .also, changed Raggedy Ann's dress color..so much better..

This has been a very weird week. My husband has not been well, family was home and gathering around, which was wonderful.  Then on Saturday the article about the art gallery in Edgewood Vista was in the local paper featuring none other than me..  nice article and photo.. the interview was a couple of weeks ago...

About 2 o'clock this afternoon, i got an idea to paint running shoes on brown paper, cut them out, go to the Moorhead Center Mall and taped them to the paper walls...  Saturday morning thousands of marathon runners will gather there.. imagine.. and it is thundering right now..

"Yellow Dirt Road" changed

At our art gathering a couple of weeks ago we watched a fasinating video about David Hockney. He painted the same landscape over and over. I noticed his trees were all colors . so there ya' go!!

2018.. changed background again and re titled "Casino Bound"

I used a photo i had taken of a group of shoppers a long time ago. Always loved their body language, purses and contrasting hair styles..  Was troubled about the background and tried the bubbles that were successful in a painting i did awhile ago.  Mistake!.. covered it with some blues,  Mistake!  then divided it up with lines.. aha.. ............. march 2018..  i changed
it again..

Lunch @ Ram's Head SOLD at Edgewood Vista

I painted this watercolor this week. I used a photo i took in a Colorado Bar on our travels 20 years ago.  Always liked the cowboy chowing down his lunch with his boots and hat. Another attempt @ capturing plain folk...  i didn't sketch this one ahead.. drew it right on the watercolor paper and went for it..
I got this painting out and thought I'd change it up a little. I put cowboy hats on the guys, cropped it and eliminated the figure sitting at the table..usually not possible in watercolor., but it worked.  Not sure why the first phot is so bright..magic of the digital world.

Pastel Party

Our RRWS hosted another Pastel Party last week.  It was fun to play with chalk again. This is done on black paper with the few pastels I kept ...  i gave a bunch of soft broken well used (from the 70-80's) pastel sticks away but that is OK..  it is a messy endeavor, for sure... but fun.

"Leanin' & Ponderin'"

My second attempt for the Square Foot Art Show that is later this year in Bismarck. I sketched this farmer-guy from a pix in an old John Deere book i had given to my Dad for Father's Day back in the 80's.. i loved the shadow and body language it portrayed. This is acrylic on a wrapped canvas.

Assorted Vessels Donated to a benefit

This is result of a painting that i cut in 1/2.. original one is posted 2/7/10.. I love doing this remodeling of my work.  In fact I would like to do this to a lot of paintings i see exhibited out in public.. tee hee.

Howdy, I'm Here to Fix your Fence" wedding gift to Shannon.. not sure if she liked it..

I entered Bismarck's square foot show again.  Love painting on this foremat: wrapped canvas square!! As reference i used a photo my niece, Becky, had taken many years ago. Not sure if my title will fly.

"Ye Olde Redwood Fence"

I found an old photo taken on the prairie, there was tall grass (which is difficult to paint effectively), so i forged ahead using 300# paper on which i had washed off an old workshop painting.. whew!!!.  my art pal, Donna, suggested i add the diagonal post in the foreground ...it helped.  I really like it...

Enter with a Pail and a Mop SOLD @ RRFAS 6-15

One of my traveling brothers ( have several) sent me some photos he took while in Europe. I love this gate and the greenery..  I added the lady, the bike, and the plant.  I really love this.. I used my #16 Silver Black Velvet brush on the whole painting.. what a honey of a brush..  i could paint loosely and tightly @ the same time..  Once again my art pals helped out with their critique.. they saw that the HOE i had in her hand looked like a PLUNGER... i changed it to look like a mop, i hope.

Rides

I found a small painting board in my pile of art stuff, that someone gave me. What to paint, What to paint?? I had ripped a photo out of a magazine while we were in Oregon.  Of course the ocean was in the background.  I loved the bikes and wagons ( only put a couple in).. needed some humans so i put 3 kids to match the 3 rides and one kite.

Lady of the Lake SOLD @ RRFAS last week...

This was fun. Acrylic on canvas board. I just wanted to use the Magenta paint that i bought..  I have sketched several boat shapes and re-arranged them on the dark blue background. It turned out pretty stunning.  Some of my friends that critiqued it thought the Pink boat was a female boat being shunned by the mate boats..  weird concept, just sayin'...........

Sibling Rivalry SOLD @ Pekin 6-14

Oh my, i haven't painted little faces in a long time.  My 93 year old friend, Lucy, was cleaning out, what she called junk, old photos.  She gave me several, saying her family doesn't want them..eek.. This one was taken in 1926..Lucy and her siblings. I love the expressions and body language of these kids. I had sketched this first and was pleased with how it turned out.  I haven't shown it to Lucy as yet.

Got Milk??? Gift to Sam, the man...

I took a photo of the "Oreo Cows" a couple of years ago with plans to paint it some day, maybe in a triptych. A friend gave me a large frame and wah la.. i dug out this photo.. what fun to paint .. i love the blue sky but wonder if I should add some cloud action..
I wish I had put the clouds in this painting sooner.  I thought about it but was liking the solid blue sky so the emphasis would be on the oreo cows. I so like it better now.

I added these crows hoping it will be entered into the Crow Show @ the Spirit Room in Feb. I googled crows in the wind and found a video of crows flying all over the place and sketched some of them. I also used photos I have taken of the crows in our back yard in winter.. They are an interesting bird and they don't go "south" for the winter, by golly... SOLD @ Crow Show...
