Leaf us Alone
Painted these leaves a long long time ago. I put the dark background in and fixed up this Free Frame with some paint. They went together well. Wish I had someone to do the framing for me, free. Missing Carl.
"T'was a Piece of Cake"
Wondering about the title?? This painting has been around for a long time. There was a piece of cake on the plate. Now there is a frog climbing out of a hole.. Santa Frog, in fact. in honor of Portland OR.
Back Shed Decor
I so love painting weathered wood using only 3 or 4 colors. I did paint the canvas with Naphthol Crimson first. I plan to exhibit this during our "Holiday Boutique at G4. A simple wreath says it all, right??

Redheads Have More Fun
I had sketched and painted this image of my granddaughter about 20+ years ago. I so loved the ambiance it presented : Carefree, Young, Great Hair!!!! So I painted it again.
I put a background into this one, but when i added the green, the shoes vanished.. Had to darken the green alot by using more blue pigment, to bring the feet forward and important. yes!

Art Medium Variety
I painted these 3 works in one week. Swing girl is Watercolor, Out Behind the Barn is Acrylic and the funny fat bird is Colored Pencil .. We explored colored pencil at HAGS group, i kinda forgot about using them. It's all about the paper, of course.

out behind the barn
The Hjemkomst group is planning to hang cloud paintings in our window display spot at the museum. Painted this last night. I love that weird old brush i have that has a rounded thick bristle tip on it..
Once again, my made up barn wins the lottery. It's Acrylic, yay!

Dry Spell Sold at Touchmark 9-24-25
I painted this about 6 years ago. I painted the sky and field at a workshop in Cormorant, but when i got home i knew "it needs buildings". It is watercolor but the house and barn are done in acrylic. I just found out that it sold at my show today and it wasn't on my blog. Can't have that!!! so I searched my photos til i found a photo. i'm gleeful.
oops, I found this painting posted in 2018. oh well, the more times, the merrier, they say. What??

Where is Everyone?
Oh i love how this turned out. I started to cover this free canvas (thanks Sherri) with red and cobalt . it looked like the beloved Pacific ocean to me. I spent many hours looking through my photos of gulls.
I have it hanging in my office where the walls are a rusty color. WOW.

slippery boots Gifted
i won a couple of Gesso Panels at a RRWS tea party. This one is 6x6 and VERY smooth. The acrylic paint seemed to be slippery, hence the title. Yes, i've painted these kickers b/4.

Bobby, the Farmer
Cousin, Bob, texted this image to me yesterday. Apparently i painted this in '93 and gave it to them (He and Claudia) for their wedding. I love how loosely i painted then. Gee Whiz, have i tightened up over the years???

Facing East
This is a "Cover-up" painting. You've heard of them, Right? I painted the little Wranglers a long time ago and I've stolen the frames off them and put them aside. Yesterday, i was wanting to paint a sunflower mostly because my daughter has been watching one grow in the back of a pickup truck all summer, and has shared the progress. ANYWAY, i always liked the fence and background on this. Goodbye, little cowboy. wah laa. LOVE painting in acrylics.

Show at Touchmark
Today I hung 20 of my paintings, with the help of friend, Connie Riedman, at Touchmark Senior Living, here in Fargo. They look good and the space is nice, bright and used for activities.. Exciting.

Pink or Yellow, that is the question.
Going thru old unframed paintings . found this mixed media weird-o. I cut it in half and framed it in 11x14 matt and frame. It's kinda spooky. I think paper was covered with gauche, then w/c, then pigment lifted with wet brush, leaving stained hues, then acrylic for highlights, probably 20 years ago.
That's my story and i'm sticking to it.

Me
I found this photo on my computer somewhere.. couldn't find it again. Wanted to replace the 20 year old photo in my bio. so i put it here, then fiddled around and got it moved, i think.
This was a painting party at Beth's house on Christmas a couple of years ago.. when Jonathan's family was here for holiday fun.

Wood Pile Strut
It's really all about the Frame. This one has been in my house with a photo in it for over 30 years. Painted this odd work this week to go in the "frame". i may take it to a show and charge $600 for the frame and throw in the painting.. I wonder if Uncle Bill made this one as well.

Curb Appeal (and some history)
I took the photo of the cans in the 80's in Langdon, Painted the acrylic version in the "00s (my niece Tanya Scully owns it), I did the pencil sketch last week and then painted it in watercolor yesterday. Photo is a little dull. Not sure if the tree needs more attention and maybe more branches. Fun to revisit my work from long ago.

My neighbor Joe, brought these beautiful lilies over. I have wanted to paint that crazy vase that i saw somewhere, so i put Joe's flowers in it. Background was stamped and smeared a while ago.

No Float
I painted this 8x10 acrylic today while my son-in-law took my car to the shop. He is the best. ANYWAY, i found the pencil sketch i had done many years ago and had painted in W/C. {it is hanging at my son's home in Oregon.} This was fun 'cause i had painted the canvas orange with "left over" paint from my last project and wah-la, it worked.

Kiss my Owie
My great granddaughter! I could not resist painting this image in watercolor. i entered it in the RRWS show, we will see how that goes. I painted a reddened area on her hand and it was accidently heart shaped. What does that mean??

Peek at the Pacific
Using a photo i took in Oregon driving on hwy 1. i liked how turquoise-y the water was. this photo does nothing to enhance the painting. it is acrylic. photo sucks. I'll try another day.

Gullible
My other entry for the Square Foot show in Bismarck. Used a photo i took on one of our trips to west coast. the photo had many fancy boats in the background. We were at a restaurant and i remember being concerned about birds pooping on my fish and chips..

"Fiddler in the Garage" 8-9-25 Sold at G4 today.
I signed up to do a demo at G4 during the cocoa/coffee crawl. I sketched this from a painting i did in oil about 50 years ago. Neighbor, Frank, playing the fiddle at my folks 25th Ann. party in the garage. The right side of painting is made-up thinking about our (Carl's) garage. I especially loved the light bulb and his overalls. tells a story of the times.

Sippy Straw
March Theme at G4 is Mardi Gras .. Need i say more? Yes, it is meant to be her mask ,, not her face. Oh I had fun painting those "feathery shapes." Yes, it's been a long winter.

"The Dog Ate It "
The color is way off on this.. anyway, i used one of my Mom's doilies to make the pattern after i applied thick acrylic on canvas. i then used a roller to press the doily into the pigment. Our theme for Feb is Puzzles.. wha laa

matching frames, sorta, I'm anxious to hang these as a group at G4 for month of Feb. we'll see how that works for me. ha..
Door View 5-6-25 SOLD at G4
This painting is to fit in the really old 9x12 barn wood frame . the color of the walls closely matches the color of the frame.. Gee, i love the feeling of this one..
Deck View
I "found" 2 more old old barn wood frames in my possession .. wish i could remember where i got them or if some one made them. they are from the 70's. i painted this one to fit in the 8x10 frame. i have the view theme going ..
Talked to my youngest bro and he told me that the barn wood frames were made by our uncle Bill Geisen and that he has a couple of them, as well. mystery solved. Thanks Uncle Bill, i'm sure they were free..

Thank God It's Fry-day 10-4-25 Sold at G4
I love these 8x8 canvas boards.. I covered my "Sail Away" painting with this. I had read a bio of an artist that said his girl friend fried an egg everyday and would paint it. my first thought was HE should be cooking and she should be painting.. that's how my brain works.
ANYWAY, i got an air fryer for christmas and am doing hash browns in it.. topping them with easy-over eggs.. wah la..
