What the Shell?? changed to "Waddling in the Water" 4-26 Sold to Peggy (fave cousin.)

#3 of my 10x10 s..   i painted this turtle a couple of years ago, mostly yellow and green, if i remember right. I love this and how it looks like a quilt.  bought some nice 10x10 frames at Michael's yesterday. 

   I know, weird subject matter, but it IS subject matter.  

2-24   took this painting to Cormorant to be exhibited in D.L. in a poetry inspired show.    

5-23-24   when it was returned, i couldn't believe how ugly the pink background was.  Got out my favorite Cobalt Blue and went at it with vigor.   on World Turtle Day, no less.  

 

4-26  OK, this guy needed an update.  I painted a second coat over his shell using an Indian Yellow acrylic paint.  Loved how it turned the blue areas green.  what fun.  Then i googled turtles trying to find a nice turtle face.. no luck.  All photos and paintings had them swimming or looking the other way, so I just painted his face looking at me.  "What you lookin' at?"
